LEICESTER MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING WIFE'S MURDER
The report details how 51-year-old Ashwin Daudia was found guilty of murdering his former wife, Kiran Daudia.Surveillance video showed him dragging her body wrapped in a suitcase through public streets.
It was established that he had strangled Kiran before placing her remains inside the luggage, which he later abandoned behind some trash bins in Leicester.
During the Crown Court hearing, it was revealed that the killing occurred on the same day Daudia was facing eviction from their shared home.
He was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 18 years.
Prosecutors dismissed his defence that the death was in self-defense, pointing to ligature marks on Kiran’s neck indicating she was strangled with her own scarf.
Judge Timothy Spencer QC remarked that Daudia had murdered her 'in what should have been the safety of her own home,' and characterized him as arrogant, bullying, and controlling, motivated by selfish pride.
Her family described her as a woman full of aspirations whose life was cut tragically short, stressing that 'Life without her will never be the same.' The detailed court account highlights Daudia’s domineering personality and the violent nature of the murder, leading to a significant custodial sentence.
