HUDDERSFIELD MAN THREATENS EX IN COURT, FACES JAIL FOR HARASSMENT
A man identified as Ashton Quashie has been found guilty of multiple offences involving threatening and harassing his former partner.According to court reports, he repeatedly bombarded her with abusive calls and texts, even after a non-molestation order was granted against him.
The victim was protected by a court order issued in October of the previous year, which banned Quashie from contacting her.
However, on February 1, he breached this order by sending numerous threatening messages, including 41 calls within three hours, in which he threatened violence towards her.
The police captured footage of Quashie on body-worn cameras, where he was heard shouting threats such as "Tell that bitch to come out before I come through it!" and demanding her to come out or face him forcing entry.
The threats escalated to him banging and kicking her door and calling her names while he was outside by his car.
He also allegedly told her, "Keep running my name out of your mash up mouth in town and see if you can even say any names ever again," threatening her with further violence and saying "See what happens if you don't respond to me." When arrested, Quashie claimed he was going to come through her door, showing continued hostility and intimidation.
The court was informed that he was already on bail for related incidents involving the same victim when the latest threats occurred.
His behavior caused significant fear and distress, prompting police intervention.
Quashie pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order, harassment, and persistently using electronic communications to cause annoyance and anxiety.
The chairman of the bench, Wayne Perriman, emphasized the seriousness of these offenses, highlighting that Quashie had put the victim in fear of violence, a fact he had freely admitted to police.
He was remanded in custody with sentencing scheduled for February 20, where he faces potential imprisonment.
