OFFENDER ASHLEY COLDWELL LOCKED UP AFTER BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER
Ashley Coldwell, residing on Egerton Street in Hanley, was initially sentenced to an 18-month community order after paedophile hunters caught him sending inappropriate messages to a decoy pretending to be a 14-year-old boy.
His sentence also included a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which permitted authorities to inspect any devices with internet access.
Coldwell violated the SHPO by removing the Grindr app and possessing undisclosed devices.
During a police visit in January, officers discovered several devices, including four mobile phones, a laptop, fire sticks, an Apple Watch, and an Android tablet, all stored in a locked box.
He confessed to possessing these devices and breaching the order.
As a result, he received a 12-month prison sentence for the breach.
The court highlighted that this was his second violation in a short timeframe, with similar failures to disclose devices.
The judge pointed out the similarities between the breaches and Coldwell's failure to heed previous warnings.
