ANTHONY MCSWEENEY FROM CRAWLEY AND LONDON CONVICTED OF CHILD SEX ABUSE AT GRAFTON CLOSE HOME

Anthony McSweeney, a 68-year-old Catholic priest with ties to both Crawley and London, has been found guilty of serious sexual offenses committed during his tenure at Grafton Close Children’s Home in West London.

The court proceedings revealed that between 1979 and 1981, McSweeney engaged in the sexual abuse of a teenage boy while working at the facility, a place that was supposed to be a safe environment for vulnerable children.

In addition to the abuse, McSweeney was convicted of possessing indecent images of children.

Investigations uncovered that some of these illicit images were recorded during his time at Grafton Close, further implicating him in the exploitation of minors.

The evidence presented in court detailed how McSweeney targeted vulnerable boys, exploiting their trust and innocence for his own depraved purposes.

The court also heard that McSweeney watched illegal videos involving children, some of which were linked to a paedophile ring associated with the children’s home.

Following his conviction, McSweeney faces the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence.
