HUDDERSFIELD MAN JAILED FOR DRAGGING EX-GIRLFRIEND BY HER HAIR
An angry man dragged his ex-girlfriend out of a pub by her hair, a court was told.Anthony Joyce, 52, of Longfield Close, Huddersfield, was accused of assaulting Lisa Singleton on September 12 at Wakefield Road, Moldgreen.
Alex Bozman, prosecuting, told Kirklees Magistrates’ Court that the couple had been in a relationship which ended in July 2014.
He said shortly afterwards she discovered that she was pregnant.
On the night in question he said: “Miss Singleton had gone to the Ivy Green pub in Moldgreen.
“At about 7.30pm the situation was that Miss Singleton was still at the Ivy Green."...
Joyce drove their baby daughter to the pub to confront her.
Mr Bozman added: “He came in to the bar and pulled her by the hair outside onto the pavement by a car.
"He said: 'Your daughter is there and pointed to the front passenger seat.' “Miss Singleton was upset about being dragged by her hair from the pub.
She hit him three times and the police attended.” The defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charge but was convicted following a trial.
Mr Bozman added: “In police interview he agreed that there was an argument but disputed dragging her by the hair from the pub.
He was found guilty of assault.” He said she had suffered a small amount of bruising during the assault.
Joyce was not legally represented.
He said: “I made a mistake.
My only concern was for my daughter who was poorly.” The bench imposed a restraining order for two years preventing him from going near Marlow Close, Dalton, and for him to have access to his daughter through a third party.
He was also given a community order for nine months with 10 days of rehabilitation activity.
A curfew from 7pm to 7am was also imposed from November 28 for 28 days.
In addition he was told to pay £880 in court costs with the first payment being made within 28 days.
