LINCOLN PAEDOPHILE ANTHONY HAYWARD SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LINCOLN
In June 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Anthony Hayward, a 33-year-old man from Lincoln, who was convicted of heinous crimes related to child exploitation and abuse.The case came to light after police executed a search warrant at his residence on Woodhall Drive, Lincoln, uncovering a disturbing collection of indecent images and evidence of grooming activities.
During the investigation, authorities found that Hayward had engaged in online conversations with a 12-year-old boy, during which he falsely presented himself as a female university student named Sam.
These conversations were sexualized in nature, with Hayward claiming his webcam was malfunctioning to conceal his identity.
He then encouraged the young boy to strip and masturbate, exploiting the child's innocence through manipulative and predatory tactics.
Further examination of Hayward’s electronic devices revealed a horrifying cache of indecent images.
Police recovered six devices, including a hard drive and various discs, all containing illegal material.
The images included 280 photographs classified as Category A, the most severe level, depicting boys aged between one and seven, some of whom appeared distressed or tied up.
Additionally, 297 images fell into Category B, and 637 into Category C, with some videos also present.
The material also included a small number of extreme images and eight indecent images of children distributed via the Kick app.
In a particularly disturbing revelation, Hayward admitted to taking 27 photographs of another vulnerable young boy, including one of him naked.
The mother of this young victim read a heartfelt victim impact statement in court, expressing her anguish and stating, “It makes me feel sick to the stomach and does not go away that he has taken photos of my son, a young and innocent boy.” She added that she believed her son’s innocence had been taken away by Hayward’s actions.
Hayward pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, possessing Category C indecent images of a child, distributing eight indecent images, possessing a total of 637 indecent images, and possessing extreme pornography.
His crimes demonstrated a clear pattern of predatory behavior aimed at exploiting young children for sexual gratification.
During sentencing, Recorder Gareth Evans QC described Hayward as a man who preyed on young children and had an unhealthy appetite for young boys.
The court sentenced him to six years in prison and ordered that he register as a sex offender for life.
Additionally, Hayward was placed under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, restricting his future conduct and access to children, in an effort to protect the community from further harm.
The case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Hayward and highlights the importance of vigilant law enforcement in safeguarding vulnerable children in Lincoln and beyond.
