OFFENDERS BEHIND HUDDERSFIELD CHILD'S BRUTAL MURDER SENTENCED TO LIFE
A mother labeled as 'evil' along with her bodybuilder boyfriend have received life sentences for the murder of her teenage son.Agnieszka Kalinowska, age 35, and Andrzej Latoszewski, age 38, kept Sebastian Kalinowski confined in their Huddersfield home for several months, during which he endured prolonged torture until his death in August 2021.
Their conviction for murder was confirmed after a trial at Leeds Crown Court, and both men were ordered to serve a minimum of 39 years.
Mrs Justice Lambert described the CCTV footage of Sebastian’s abuse as 'utterly horrifying,' noting that Latoszewski, a dedicated gym-goer, displayed bully-like tendencies, targeting Sebastian for his vulnerability.
The videos depicted Latoszewski assaulting Sebastian repeatedly with punches and kicks within the house, often pausing only to wipe sweat from his brow or admire his muscles, while Kalinowska was largely passive and appeared unconcerned about her son's pain.
The court heard that Latoszewski used martial arts techniques, kicking and punching Sebastian with brutal force, mimicking training routines on a punching bag in his garden.
Kalinowska was seen present during these assaults, showing little to no reaction or concern.
Sebastian was also punished by being forced to sit alone in a spotless bedroom, with the couple watching from their phones to prevent him from leaving.
Police uncovered 4,000 hours of footage stored on a damaged hard drive, which Latoszewski had hidden while Sebastian was dying.
Medical reports concluded that Sebastian’s death resulted from an infection caused by sustained injuries, including 28 fractured ribs over time, a large blood clot in his liver, damaged heart muscle, and severe wounds on his back and buttocks.
Detective Tony Nicholson, leading the investigation, described the case as one of the saddest in his 29-year career, emphasizing that Sebastian suffered in silence and endured cruel, inhuman treatment.
The couple's actions—installing cameras to monitor punishments and attempting to cover up the abuse instead of seeking help—were heavily condemned.
