OFFENDER ANDREW VICKERS SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULTS IN STOCKTON
Andrew Vickers, aged 29, has been sentenced to a total of ten years and three months in prison after committing multiple violent assaults. His crimes include a brutal daylight attack where he beat one victim with a mallet, resulting in a skull fracture, facial bruising, a brain haematoma, and requiring at least two surgeries.
The incident appeared motivated by revenge, as the victim allegedly accused him of stealing his mother's car.
During the attack, Vickers delivered "eight to 10 forceful blows" to the victim’s head and upper body.
Additionally, Vickers committed a further assault on his own father, whom he attacked shortly after the mallet assault.
The father described his son as "full of hell" and recounted how Vickers pushed him, causing him to hit his head and fall.
The father stated, "I really thought he was going to kill me...
I have never felt so frightened of him before." Vickers later pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, and he was previously convicted for threatening behavior, affray, and other violent offenses.
The judge highlighted the severity of his violence, stating, "A picture is worth a thousand words.
The pictures of the injuries are very graphic, indeed they are horrible.
That is the state you left him in." Vickers was described as a dangerous offender, and his sentence includes an extended supervision period of two thirds of his custodial time, with an anticipated 10-year recall risk.
