ANDREW GILBERT FROM LINCOLN ADMITS TO CHILD INDECENCY PHOTOGRAPHS IN MABLETHORPE
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Lincoln community, Andrew Gilbert, a 58-year-old resident of Boultham Park Road in Lincoln, has admitted to serious charges involving the exploitation of a child through indecent photographs.The allegations, which span over a three-year period, were formally acknowledged in Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, January 25.
Gilbert pleaded guilty to three separate charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images of a child.
The first charge involved taking an indecent photograph of a minor between April 17, 2005, and April 18, 2008.
In addition, he admitted to taking four more indecent photographs of the same child during the same timeframe.
The third charge pertained to the production of a DVD containing indecent images of a child, also committed within the same period and in the vicinity of Mablethorpe.
All of these offences are alleged to have taken place in the Mablethorpe area, a seaside town known for its beaches and tourist attractions, which makes the nature of the crimes particularly disturbing given the location's reputation as a family-friendly destination.
During the hearing, Robert Underwood, representing Gilbert, requested that the court proceed with sentencing as soon as possible.
He emphasized the long passage of time since the offences occurred, stating, “The offences occurred ten years ago, and he was charged four years ago.
This has been hanging over him all this time.” Mr.
Underwood also highlighted Gilbert’s previously good character, noting, “He is a man of 58, of hitherto good character, and there is no suggestion of any other offences.” In response, Recorder Andrew Easteal granted Gilbert bail until the scheduled sentencing date on Monday, January 29.
The judge informed Gilbert, “I am going to adjourn the case until Monday, at that stage I will be able to sentence you,” indicating that a formal judgment would be delivered then, taking into account all the circumstances of the case.
As the legal proceedings continue, the community awaits the outcome of the sentencing, which will determine the next steps for Gilbert and serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from harm.
