PERTHSHIRE PENSIONER CAUGHT IN ONLINE STING LOSES HOME AND PARTNER
Andrew Duffy, 74, was tracked down by paedophile hunters after he gave disgusting sex tips to their child decoy account.Since the doorstep confrontation two months ago, Duffy has separated from his long-term partner and is now living on a caravan park in Fife.
Perth Sheriff Court heard the Child Protectors United group operated a profile purporting to be a schoolgirl from the West Midlands.
The fake account, managed by an adult female, attracted Duffy’s attention on September 17 this year.
Fiscal depute Michael Robertson narrated a chat log of the pair’s conversations.
Duffy, using the profile name Gold Wing, told the “girl” he was aged 48, living in Scotland and originally from Yorkshire.
He told her his name was Jim Duffy.
On hearing the profile's age, he replied: “You look much older.
Very pretty.” He then asked if she has a boyfriend and if she has a crush on anyone.
Duffy, who said he is divorced, went on to write: “I have a high libido, so I enjoy sex.
What about you?” The girl replied she likes dancing but had not had sex.
Duffy then steered the conversation towards more X-rated matters with advice on how to carry out a solo sex act.
“I would show you but it would be illegal, cos you are classed as a minor,” he said.
The conversation continued on WhatsApp, with Duffy giving detailed instructions on a sex act.
He sent her explicit images and videos, including two explicit images of a penis.
Later, Duffy expressed disappointment that the youngster had not offered to send sexual images of herself.
The hunters group later raided his home, seizing equipment including a laptop, tablets, memory cards, and a USB stick.
Duffy pled guilty to attempting to communicate indecently with a child and attempting to cause a child to view sexual images between September 17 and 19.
Sheriff William Wood placed him on the sex offenders register and deferred sentence for background reports.
