AMY MARY BECK AND KIERAN SIEVWRIGHT FACING TRIAL OVER TRAGIC DEATH OF BABY OLLY-JAMES IN FRASERBURGH
The heartbreaking case involving the death of a three-month-old infant, Olly-James Sievwright, has taken a significant turn as his parents, Amy Mary Beck and Kieran Sievwright, prepare to stand trial on serious charges related to child abuse and drug exposure. The incident occurred at a residence in Fraserburgh, where the couple is accused of causing unnecessary suffering to their young child.According to the indictment, Beck, aged 31, and Sievwright, aged 24, are alleged to have been responsible for exposing Olly-James to dangerous substances, including Mephedrone and MDMA. The prosecution claims that these controlled drugs were present in the environment and that the infant ingested Mephedrone, a potent stimulant often compared to substances like cocaine and ecstasy. This ingestion is believed to have played a role in the child's death, which was officially recorded on December 22, 2019. The death was also attributed to peritonitis, a severe stomach infection that further compromised the child's health.
It is alleged that these harmful conditions persisted from September 17, 2019, the day Olly-James was born, until his untimely death. The case details that the couple's actions, or failure to act, resulted in the child's exposure to these dangerous drugs, which significantly contributed to his demise.
Beyond the tragic loss of Olly-James, the charges extend to accusations of neglect involving two other children. It is claimed that Beck and Sievwright exposed these children to drugs, with at least one of them also ingesting Mephedrone. Furthermore, the couple is accused of being involved in the supply of Mephedrone to another individual at a different Fraserburgh residence, an act linked to that person's subsequent death. Additional allegations include Beck's possession of cocaine at her residence in Peterhead.
The case was brought before the High Court in Glasgow, where proceedings commenced with the defendants maintaining their innocence. Beck's legal representative, David Moggach, stated: 'She pleads not guilty to the five charges on the indictment. We are ready for trial.' Similarly, Kieran Sievwright denies the charges against him, according to reports. The prosecution has agreed to move forward with a trial scheduled to begin in February 2024, with proceedings expected to last approximately ten days. Both Beck and Sievwright are currently on bail, residing at separate addresses within Fraserburgh, awaiting the court's judgment on these serious allegations.
