EX-NOTTINGHAM TEACHER GUILTY OF INDECENT ASSAULT ON PUPILS
A former teacher at a Nottingham school has confessed to sexually abusing two underage girls during the 1980s.Alun Thomas admitted to six counts of indecently assaulting two females who were aged between 11 and 14 at the time they attended the school.
The offences occurred at Bramcote School, which closed in 2017 after 69 years, and took place on multiple occasions.
Thomas, who is now 66 and residing in Northampton, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on February 7 and pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court was told that he taught music at the school when the offences happened.
No additional details of the abuses were presented during the hearing, but Thomas's legal representative applied for bail, which was granted.
The judge informed Thomas that the case was being adjourned until April 10 for sentencing and that he would be subject to notification on the sex offender register from that day.
The judge emphasized that the preliminary sentencing point is custodial, and Thomas is described by the court as a man of previously good character who is remorseful for his actions.
