HUDDERSFIELD WOMAN GUILTY OF BITING POLICEMAN AFTER DRUNKEN STREET NEGLECT
Alicia Robinson, a woman who had abandoned her six-year-old nephew in the street to drink vodka, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to several charges.
Robinson was responsible for caring for the young boy but chose instead to go to a friend's house nearby and start drinking heavily.
She was in such an intoxicated and aggressive state that when police arrived, she bit one of the officers on his finger, causing immediate pain.
Robinson admitted to using threatening behaviour, assaulting a police officer by biting, and being drunk in charge of a child.
The incident took place on April 22, while she was living with her sister on Ravensknowle Road, Moldgreen.
Her lawyer explained that Robinson had no intention of drinking but was overwhelmed by her personal struggles, including her own child's recent removal into care.
Magistrates sentenced her to a community order with 25 rehabilitation activity days and 200 hours of unpaid work, and ordered her to pay £50 compensation to the injured officer, along with court costs and a victim surcharge.
Robinson expressed remorse, knowing her behaviour was inappropriate, and felt embarrassed about the incident.
