ALEX HEPBURN FROM LINCOLN CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING YOUNG BOYS AT LINCOLN COUNTY HOSPITAL
In a recent and highly disturbing case, Alex Hepburn, a hospital worker from Lincoln, has been convicted of multiple sexual offenses involving young boys. The conviction was handed down at Lincoln Crown Court, where Hepburn was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for his crimes.
The court also ordered that he be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and issued an indefinite sexual harm prevention order against him, reflecting the severity of his actions.
Hepburn, aged 28 and residing at Garfield View, Ermine West, Lincoln, was found guilty last month by a jury of five counts related to the sexual abuse of five young boys.
The verdict came after a trial that revealed the extent of his misconduct, which spanned over a year and involved grooming and sexual assault.
Judge Simon Hirst, who presided over the case, delivered the sentence on Friday, February 9, emphasizing the nature of Hepburn’s predatory behavior.
During the sentencing, Judge Hirst described Hepburn’s actions as grooming behavior, which was followed by sexual abuse.
The judge made it clear that the responsibility for these heinous acts lies solely with Hepburn, stating, “There was grooming behaviour.
You abused them sexually.
Many of the mothers blame themselves.
I make it perfectly clear that there is only one person to blame for your behaviour and that is you.
Each of the mothers cannot and must not blame themselves.” The case was brought to light after Hepburn was arrested on a separate matter, which was not pursued further.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Hepburn had an extensive collection of indecent images of children on his computer, totaling over 2,500 images, including 401 in the most serious category.
This evidence was presented during the trial and contributed to the conviction.
Prosecutor Andrew Vout detailed that Hepburn had indecently touched boys over a period of months, with the youngest victim being only four years old.
The offenses took place between January 1, 2016, and July 8, 2017.
The court found Hepburn guilty of six charges of sexual assault of a child, although he was acquitted of four other charges, including inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Hepburn maintained his innocence, denying all 11 charges, and chose not to give evidence during the trial.
In addition to the sexual assault charges, Hepburn admitted to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, three counts of distributing such images, and possession of a prohibited image.
The impact of his crimes has been profound, with the victims and their families suffering significant emotional and psychological harm.
The court’s verdict underscores the seriousness of his offenses and the ongoing threat he poses to the community.
