NORTHAMPTONSHIRE: ALAN UPTON JAILED FOR 15 YEARS AFTER RAPING GIRL AGED 14
A man has received a 15-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl.Alan Upton, aged 33, committed multiple sexual assaults against the girl when she was only 14 years old during 2018 and 2019.
After a four-day trial held at Northampton Crown Court, the jury took just 90 minutes to find Upton guilty on all 11 charges — including two counts of rape and nine counts of sexual activity with a minor.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with an additional 17-year extended license period.
Additionally, Upton was issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, prohibiting him from having any unsupervised contact with females under 16.
Detective Constable James Wright of Northamptonshire Police praised the young woman's courage for reporting the offences and continuing through the legal process.
He highlighted her bravery in giving evidence in court, noting it exceeded her years and was something no victim should be expected to do.
Upton, who maintained his innocence from the outset, denying all allegations during police interviews and trial.
Nevertheless, the jury swiftly saw through his falsehoods and found him guilty of all charges after brief deliberation.
The officer described Upton’s actions as calculated and cruel, targeting the victim in a reprehensible way.
Now, because of her bravery, Upton faces a considerable period of imprisonment to reflect on his abhorrent conduct.
