NORTHAMPTONSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR ONLINE CHILD ABUSE PLOT
A 41-year-old Stanion paedophile, John Streeton, from Northamptonshire, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after confessing to numerous internet child sex offences, including traveling over 100 miles to exploit minors.John Streeton of Willow Lane, Stanion, was sentenced to nine years in imprisonment, with an additional three years on extended licence, at Chester Crown Court on Friday, May 23.He admitted to orchestrating or facilitating child sex crimes and deliberately promoting or assisting in the offences.He traveled to Chester intending to meet a woman to abuse her children, but he was actually communicating with a police officer from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU).
Detective Inspector Jon Weir from NWROCU stated: “This case underscores the alarming measures some individuals will undertake to exploit children.”“John Streeton’s actions were calculated and predatory, and it’s thanks to the swift and professional work of our officers that we were able to intervene before any real-world harm could occur,” he added.The court heard that Streeton believed he was talking online with an adult woman about abusing her children.
He was arrested on February 10, 2025, at a service station in Chester, where he had arranged to meet the woman and her children.
He was also issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register until further notice.Detective Inspector Weir emphasized: “Protecting children from online predators is one of our highest priorities.
This case serves as a stark reminder that behind every screen, there could be someone with harmful intentions — but also that law enforcement is actively working to detect and stop them.”“We will continue to use every tool at our disposal to identify those, like John Streeton, who pose a threat to children and bring them to justice,” he concluded.
