AIDEN COOPER SENTENCED IN MANSFIELD FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND ONLINE PREDATION
In a case that has shocked the Mansfield community, Aiden Cooper, a 21-year-old man formerly residing on Andover Road, was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of serious crimes involving a young girl. The offences stemmed from a disturbing series of online interactions where Cooper attempted to exploit a 12-year-old girl through social media platforms.
According to court records, Cooper engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior by messaging the young girl on Facebook, using an alias that suggested he was 13 years old.
During these exchanges, he solicited explicit photographs from her, pressuring her to send images of herself in sexually explicit poses.
The court was also informed that Cooper explicitly asked the girl to engage in sexual activity with him, which is a grave violation of her innocence and trust.
The incident came to light when the girl’s mother discovered inappropriate messages on her daughter’s mobile phone.
Concerned about the content and the apparent age of the sender, she promptly contacted the police to investigate.
It was revealed that Cooper’s online misconduct extended beyond Facebook; he had also been in contact with the girl via Skype.
During these interactions, he coerced her into watching a sexual act, further demonstrating his malicious intent and disregard for her well-being.
Cooper pleaded guilty on January 5, 2018, to multiple charges, including four counts of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of creating indecent images, and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material.
The court heard that his actions were calculated and predatory, targeting a vulnerable young girl.
In addition to his prison sentence, Cooper was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his contact with minors and imposes strict conditions to prevent further offenses.
Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
The case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift law enforcement response in protecting children from online predators and sexual exploitation.
