HUDDERSFIELD MOTHER AGNIESZKA KALINOWSKA JAILED FOR 39 YEARS FOR CAUSING HER SON'S DEATH
Agnieszka Kalinowska, a woman from Huddersfield, was convicted of subjecting her son, Sebastian, to repeated acts of violence and neglect, encouraging her partner, Andrezj Latoszewski, to join in the abuse.Sebastian, who died at age 15, had endured prolonged suffering in his final months, feeling isolated and helpless.
Both Kalinowska and Latoszewski received life sentences, with a minimum period of 39 years before they could seek parole.
Evidence presented at Leeds Crown Court included footage showing Latoszewski attacking Sebastian as if he were a punching bag, while Kalinowska appeared indifferent, often dining on takeaways during the incidents.
It was revealed that her emotional neglect extended well before 2021, with Sebastian’s father stating she had only met her son three times from the age of three until she relocated him to England.
In his victim impact statement, Sebastian’s father voiced his anguish and questioned her deep-seated hatred for her son, which he believed motivated her to permit his mistreatment.
He described her neglect and abandonment, emphasizing her lack of concern for Sebastian’s health, instead focusing solely on her own interests.
The judge pointed out her blatant disregard for her son’s suffering, referencing a letter she wrote from prison that only expressed affection for her pet cat, not remorse for Sebastian’s death.
The court underscored her selfishness and emotional indifference, characterizing her as a primary perpetrator of her son’s tragic demise and a blatant child abuser.
