ADRIAN THOMAS, NOW LIVING IN NEWCASTLE EMMLYN, JAILED FOR SEX OFFENDER OFFENSES IN WALES

Update: Adrian Thomas, who has since relocated to Newcastle Emlyn, was convicted in February 2019 of offences related to his use of a computer despite being a registered sex offender.

In that month, Thomas, 25, of Robert Street, Milford Haven, appeared from custody at Haverfordwest magistrates court on February 5.

He pleaded guilty to accessing a public computer at the Milford Haven job centre on February 4, in breach of a sexual harm prevention order.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones explained that the order, issued in August 2017, prohibited Thomas from using equipment that could access the internet, unless he had prior written permission from his supervising police officer.

The court was told that Thomas used the computer for about five minutes, though it was unclear what, if anything, he accessed.

Thomas, who has a previous conviction for grooming, claimed he was just using the computer to check his benefits after securing a new flat.

Magistrates sentenced Thomas to 12 weeks in prison and ordered him to pay costs and a surcharge totaling £200.

Earlier, in August 2017, Thomas was jailed for grooming a 14-year-old girl.

At that time, he was 24 and from Upper Market Street, Haverfordwest.

He had contacted her via Facebook and, within 48 hours, was attempting to arrange sexual activity.

This was the second occasion on which Thomas was caught grooming an underage girl.

He admitted meeting a child after grooming her for sex and received a 16-month prison sentence on August 3 at Swansea Crown Court.

Prosecutor Robin Rouch revealed that Thomas first contacted his latest victim through Facebook, where their conversation quickly turned sexual.

Thomas asked if she was a virgin, and she responded that she had slept with two men but that it could soon be three.

He then arranged to meet her at Swansea railway station, selling his mobile phone beforehand—possibly to eliminate evidence of their messages.

The girl was seen kissing and cuddling Thomas at the station before they traveled to his home.

When she failed to return home that night, police traced her to Haverfordwest.

Officers arrived at Thomas’s residence at 4:15 a.m.

and found her in his bed.

Thomas claimed he did not have sex with her and said she refused to cooperate with police; initially, he claimed they met randomly in Swansea and that he believed she was over 16, though police thought she appeared much younger, around 12 or 13.

It was also revealed that in March of the previous year, Thomas had been cautioned by police for inciting a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

Representing Thomas, Carina Hughes noted that his baby daughter had been born while he was in custody awaiting sentencing.

He had not seen her, and she suggested it was unlikely he ever would.

Judge Peter Heywood expressed concern because of Thomas’s previous caution for similar behavior, considering him an ongoing danger to young girls.

He sentenced Thomas to 16 months in prison, plus a sexual harm prevention order preventing contact with anyone under 16, and mandated he register as a sex offender.
