A PAEDOPHILE has been jailed for 23 years after subjecting two young girls to “grotesque” sexual abuse.Adrian Price, 51, of The Tower, Southville, Cwmbran was branded a “dangerous offender” after being found guilty by a jury following a trial of 11 historical sex offences.
They included child rape, assault a girl under 13 by penetration, sexual assault, and causing/inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
He made one of them watch pornography, Cardiff Crown Court was told.
Thomas Stanway, prosecuting, read out their victim impact statements.
The first complainant said: “I used to try not to think or talk about it.
I have no trust in men and I always feel terrified when someone is walking behind me.
I struggle to sleep and I often lie awake in bed thinking about things.” She added: “I feel like a black cloud has been over me.” The second victim revealed: “I find it very difficult to trust men.
I’m very insecure and I find it difficult that anyone would like me.
I’m tired all of the time because I can’t manage to sleep.
When I do sleep, I have nightmares.” Price told a probation officer writing his pre-sentence report that he does “not accept the verdicts.” Julia Cox said in mitigation for her client that he has no relevant previous convictions, suffers from anxiety and depression, and has learning difficulties.
Judge Eugene Egan told Price: “You are a dangerous offender.
The abuse went on and on and on.
Your victims told the jury what you had done.
They were subjected to grotesque sexual abuse at your hands.” The defendant was jailed for 18 years plus an extended licence period of five years, making a total sentence of 23 years.
Price will have to register as a sex offender for life.
He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and restraining orders, both for indefinite periods.
