EWAN JAMES FROM GLENROTHES PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD ABUSE IMAGE OFFENSES AT KIRKCALDY SHERIFF COURT
Ewan James, a 21-year-old resident of Glenrothes, has formally admitted to possessing and downloading indecent images of children, leading to his placement on the Sex Offenders Register.The case was heard at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, where James appeared to acknowledge his involvement in the offending behavior that took place over a span of several months, specifically from January 23 to September 21, 2022.
Prosecutor Christine Allan outlined that authorities were alerted after discovering that James’s internet connection at his Glenrothes home was being used to access and download illicit images.
Following a search of his residence, law enforcement officials recovered two mobile phones from his bedroom.
Cybercrime analysis of these devices confirmed that James possessed two images classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe and disturbing type of child abuse material.
In addition, seven images fell into Category C, indicating less severe but still illegal content.
The case was adjourned by Sheriff Steven Borthwick, who scheduled the sentencing for April 23.
The court will now wait for additional reports and mitigation statements before passing judgment.
During this period, James’s bail conditions remain in effect, allowing him to remain free until the sentencing date.
