FATHER JAILED AFTER SHAKEN BABY DIED
A 22-YEAR-OLD man named Aaron Brooks was sentenced to more than three years in prison for shaking his 11-week-old baby to death.The court was informed that Brooks had only shaken the infant, Morgan, for a second or two with minimal force necessary to cause a cerebral haemorrhage.
Judge Mr.
Justice Teare emphasized the duty to protect children from parental bad temper, stating, "Although the consequence of your action was dreadful for your child, I accept you did not intend to cause serious harm." The incident occurred after Brooks discovered Morgan was bleeding from her nose and then ran with her past two health centers seeking his girlfriend.
He was jailed for three years and three months following his guilty plea.
The case highlighted the tragic impact of parental violence, even when unintentional, and underscored the importance of child protection.
