WING FUNG HO FROM MONIFIETH FACES JAIL FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS

In June 2013, a 69-year-old man named Wing Fung Ho, residing in Solway Gardens, Monifieth, was involved in a series of disturbing sexual offences against underage girls. Ho, who worked at a local Chinese takeaway, had been preying on young girls he found to be 'alluring' over a period of more than two years, beginning in August 2010.

Ho’s criminal activities came to light when he was brought before Arbroath Sheriff Court, where he admitted to a range of sexual misconduct. The charges included five counts of lewd and libidinous behavior, which involved making inappropriate sexual comments, touching, and rubbing the girls’ knees and shoulders. Additionally, Ho asked the victims whether they had engaged in sexual activity or watched pornography, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.

One particularly disturbing incident involved Ho showing a young girl a newspaper picture of a topless woman. He then shouted, “that’s you, that’s you,” in a manner that was clearly intended to intimidate and shame her. Such actions underscored the severity of his misconduct and the threat he posed to the young victims.

During the court proceedings, Sheriff Peter Paterson decided to defer sentencing Ho for six months. The court also ordered Ho to register as a sex offender and imposed a financial penalty of £500 in compensation to the victims. The court was informed that Ho had paid the compensation, but the case was further delayed due to the absence of an interpreter, which was necessary to ensure Ho fully understood the proceedings.

Ho’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 30, when a final sentencing decision is expected. The case has garnered significant attention due to the nature of the offences and the vulnerability of the victims involved, highlighting ongoing concerns about child protection and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in such cases.
