DOUGLAS ADAM FROM MONIFIETH ESCAPES JAIL AFTER CHILD PICTURES SCANDAL IN DUNDEE
In a case that has drawn significant attention, 62-year-old Douglas Adam, a resident of North Bank Street in Monifieth, appeared before Dundee Sheriff Court to face charges related to indecent images of children. The incident in question occurred on April 4, 2015, and involved Adam either taking or allowing the taking of, or creating indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of minors. The court proceedings revealed that Adam had been in possession of such images, which caused considerable concern given the nature of the offense and the potential harm to the victims involved.Despite the gravity of the charges, Sheriff Lorna Drummond decided that Adam would not serve time in prison. Instead, she imposed a series of stringent conditions aimed at monitoring and rehabilitating him. Adam was placed under supervision for a period of two years, a measure intended to oversee his conduct and ensure compliance with the court’s directives.
Additionally, Sheriff Drummond issued a restriction of liberty order lasting nine weeks, which limited Adam’s movements and freedoms during this period. As part of his rehabilitation, Adam was mandated to participate in a specialized program run by the Tay Project, an initiative designed to address issues related to sexual offending and to promote behavioral change.
Further restrictions were placed on Adam’s residency and internet usage, with specific requirements about where he could live and how he could access online services. These measures are intended to prevent any further offenses and to safeguard the community.
In accordance with legal procedures for such offenses, Adam was also registered on the sex offenders’ register for a duration of two years. This registration is a standard requirement aimed at monitoring individuals convicted of sexual offenses and ensuring public safety. The court’s decision reflects a balance between accountability and the potential for rehabilitation, with authorities emphasizing the importance of ongoing supervision and support to prevent future harm.
