WILLIAM WHITTY BURNLEY PERVERT CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORN STASH AND SENTENCED
In a case that has shocked the local community of Burnley, William Whitty, a 43-year-old resident of Holmes Street, was found to possess a significant collection of illegal child pornography. The authorities revealed that Whitty had downloaded over 300 indecent images of children from the internet, a discovery that has raised serious concerns about his conduct and the safety of minors.During a court hearing at Burnley Crown Court, it was disclosed that Whitty had remained largely silent when questioned by police following his arrest. Despite his lack of comment, the evidence against him was substantial, leading to a conviction on multiple counts. Whitty pleaded guilty to 10 charges of making indecent photographs of children, with the offenses spanning from April 2009 to January of the previous year.
In response to his crimes, the court imposed a three-year community order that includes supervision. However, Whitty was excused from participating in sex offender group work or performing unpaid community service, citing issues related to his self-confidence and mental health. It was also revealed that approximately a decade ago, Whitty had been a voluntary patient at a mental health hospital for a week, following an episode of drug-induced psychosis, which may have contributed to his current circumstances.
Additional restrictions were placed on Whitty’s freedom. He was subjected to a 12-week curfew, requiring him to remain at home between 8 pm and 6 am. Furthermore, he was prohibited from working with children and was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years. To prevent future misuse of technology, Whitty was also issued a five-year sexual offences prevention order. This order bans him from using any device capable of internet access unless it can record and display his internet activity, and such devices must be available for police inspection upon request.
These measures reflect the seriousness with which the court viewed Whitty’s offenses and the ongoing efforts to monitor and prevent potential harm to children in the Burnley area.
