BURNLEY PAEDOPHILE WHO DOWNLOADED BABY IMAGE SENTENCED
A paedophile who was found to have downloaded and distributed indecent sexual images of children more than a decade ago has been sentenced after reoffending.Alun Caddy, of Rossendale Road, Burnley, was jailed for three years at Carlisle Crown Court in 2013 for two counts of distributing and 27 counts of possessing sexual images of children.
Caddy, 53, remained offence-free for around nine years until April 2022, when police visited his home, and several of his devices were seized.
His phone was found to contain one category A indecent image (the most serious category), which featured a baby aged between three and five months.
Caddy was interviewed on April 19, 2022, and denied having anything to do with any indecent images since his last convictions.
He voluntarily attended a police station in October 2022 and made no comment other than denying the allegation.
Caddy appeared in court on November 24, 2025, when his case was listed for a pre-trial review, and entered a guilty plea to making an indecent image.
Judge Richard Archer, sentencing at Preston Crown Court, said: "You went to prison for three years for serious offences.
You were made subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, as it was called then, to which you would still have been subject when you committed this offence, when you downloaded an indecent photo of category A onto your phone.
That may well have been one photo, but it was of the highest category of indecency.
You are assessed as presenting a low risk of reoffending but nevertheless said to be a high risk of causing harm to a child." Caddy was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
He must complete five rehabilitation days and attend an accredited Building Choices programme.
He was also made subject to sex offender notification requirements and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both lasting 10 years.
