BURNLEY MAN JAILED FOR THREATENING TO KILL AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEEN
A Burnley man who threatened to kill a teenager if she did not let him sexually assault her has been jailed.Kevin Macrae, 59, of Bivel Street, appeared before Preston Crown Court charged with one count of sexual assault of a girl aged under 13 and two counts of sexual activity with a child.
All three charges relate to the same victim, with the first offence occurring in 2021, after the defendant sexually assaulted the victim at his property, although the child could not remember the exact date.
On December 29, 2023, the defendant attended a funeral in Padiham and saw the victim lying on a bed.
Entering the room, he got into bed behind her and initially started to cuddle her before sexually assaulting her.
During police interviews, the victim described how the touching went on for 10 minutes, and when she asked him to stop, he told her to relax.
Macrae blamed her for drinking too much and took her home, but this was seen as a ploy to facilitate more offenses or pressure not to disclose.
He then parked at a remote car park, threatened to kill her and himself if she didn’t ‘‘open her legs,’’ and cried while banging his head on the steering wheel.
The judge noted the victim was subjected to an utterly terrifying ordeal with a marked impact on her life.
Macrae pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison.
The victim showed remarkable courage and contacted police; she was taken for safeguarding afterward.
