GREENOCK MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND ATTACK ON MUM
A SEX beast who raped a young Greenock mum and broke her jaw in three places has been jailed for 12 years.William MacIntosh left his victim so badly bruised and beaten that her former boyfriend didn't recognise her when she escaped and went to him for help.
The 26-year-old mum of three, who cannot be named for legal reasons, suffered heavy swelling to both sides of her jaw and upper neck, multiple scratches around her left eye and the bridge of her nose, and what appeared to be carpet burns on her right knee and shin.
Doctors had to rebuild her shattered jaw using metal plates.
In evidence, the young woman said that she went back to 44-year-old MacIntosh's flat for a cup of coffee, although she was `quite scared.` She said: `He started getting angry right away, he was shouting at the top of his voice right in my face.
`I remember him grabbing my throat, that's the last thing I remember.` When she woke up at MacIntosh's flat in Porterfield Road, Renfrew, her face was swollen and she was in pain.
MacIntosh smashed her in the face again breaking a tooth and damaging a nerve in her lip.
During his trial MacIntosh claimed the woman had agreed to sex with him.
He said she got her injuries after falling down ice-covered stairs.
He said she was homeless and her children were living with their grandparents in the Greenock area.
Yesterday at the High Court at Paisley, judge Lord Nimmo Smith, told MacIntosh he had a tendency for callous cruelty which marked him out as a `particularly dangerous man`.
He added that no-one who had heard the victim's evidence would forget her description of his violence towards her.
MacIntosh was convicted of detaining her against her will and assaulting the 26-year-old by repeatedly punching and kicking her to her severe injury at that address between December 16 and 19.
He was also found guilty of rape.
