GREENOCK PERVERT EXPOSED HIMSELF TO CHILDREN THROUGH WINDOW
A man with deviant behavior directed kisses at two young children while performing a sexual act on himself after looking through a window at his Greenock residence.Alasdair Higgins, aged 58, was convicted of deliberately exposing himself in a sexual manner so that the children could see him during the incident on November 30, 2023.
The children's father testified at Greenock Sheriff Court that Higgins' actions had 'ruined' his life.
Evidence showed Higgins standing completely undressed in front of a window overlooking where the children were, while engaging in the sexual act.
Both parents recalled their children 'screaming' during the event.
The mother of the children recounted rushing to their side after hearing the screams and seeing Higgins standing nude, performing a sexual act, and waving and blowing kisses toward the children.
The children were described as being ‘deeply distressed’ by what they witnessed.
Higgins denied the allegations, claiming they were false, and believed the witnesses fabricated them after he requested a police welfare check on their home in September 2021.
Although he denied any wrongdoing, the jury found him guilty.
His sentencing has been postponed to June 24, and he has been placed on the sex offenders register, with the duration of his registration to be decided next month.
Higgins was also charged with exposing himself to the children's parents but was found not guilty on that charge.
Both witnesses acknowledged differences between their courtroom testimonies and police statements, but the judge deemed their overall accounts credible regarding the core incident.
Higgins previously engaged in local politics as the former chair of Inverclyde Liberal Democrats and unsuccessfully stood in local elections in 2017 and 2022.
He also took part in the campaign to preserve Inchgreen Dry Dock.
