WILLIAM CHARNOCK FROM BLACKBURN AND CHORLEY JAILED FOR GROOMING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN CHORLEY
In August 2019, a man named William Russell John Charnock was sentenced for a series of disturbing sexual offences involving a young girl. The offences took place in the town of Chorley, specifically in the area of Brindle, but Charnock, aged 22 at the time, was residing on Shorrock Lane in Blackburn when he committed these crimes.Charnock was brought before the court and faced serious charges related to his inappropriate and illegal conduct towards a minor. After entering a guilty plea, he was sentenced to a term of 28 months in prison by Judge Beverley Lunt. The charges against him included seven counts of attempting to incite a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity, a grave offense reflecting his intent to exploit a child.
In addition to these charges, Charnock admitted to attempting to cause the young girl to view images depicting sexual acts. He was also found guilty of facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and was charged with three counts of distributing indecent images. The material he distributed included a total of 494 still images and 137 moving images, all of an indecent nature, highlighting the severity of his actions.
The court took these offences very seriously, and Judge Beverley Lunt imposed a comprehensive set of restrictions and requirements. Charnock was ordered to comply with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to protect the public from future offences. Furthermore, he was mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and management of his conduct to prevent further harm.
