MAN JAILED FOR RAPING A CHILD AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING ANOTHER
Liam Hailwood was convicted of multiple sexual offenses involving young girls at different properties.
He committed a sexual assault on a girl in Blackpool and another at a residence in Leyland.
During a hearing at Preston Crown Court last week (26th March), the 33-year-old former resident of Hornchurch Drive, Chorley, faced sentencing after a jury found him guilty of 16 charges.
These included rape of a girl under the age of 13, attempted rape of a girl under 13, sexual assault involving penetration of a girl under 13, sexual assault of a girl aged 13 or older, and encouraging sexual acts from girls under 13 and between 13 and 15.
Hailwood received a prison sentence of 12 years, with an additional year on licence, and must serve at least two-thirds of this term before being eligible for parole.
Furthermore, a lifelong restraining order has been imposed to safeguard the victims.
He will also be under lifelong notification obligations and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) until further notice.
