CHILD RAPIST BANNED FROM HOME AFTER BROTHER'S PLEA
A child rapist who had previously been convicted of raping a seven-year-old girl and served nine years in prison has been banned from returning to his former community after being identified by his brother.William Blower, 49, of Ainsdale Road, Thorntree, Middlesbrough, was convicted at Teesside Crown Court in 1998 for raping a young girl and causing her actual bodily harm.
He was sentenced to nine years in prison and placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
After his release last week, he was prevented from returning to the North-East where the crimes occurred.
His brother, who requested anonymity, pushed the Probation Service to enforce strict restrictions so Blower would not return to the area.
The brother praised the Probation Service but expressed ongoing concerns, stating, "I am still apprehensive...
It is now down to him how he handles being back in society." Blower was reportedly living in the Leeds area.
Before the case's details surfaced, Blower was considered a respected community member and regarded as the 'hard man of Thorntree.' His brother also wrote a letter to the Chief Constable of Cleveland Police to express his dissatisfaction with the decision allowing Blower to return, suggesting that without his intervention, Blower might have been permitted to come back to Teesside.
