MIDDLESBROUGH 'MONSTER' CAGED FOR OVER A DECADE AFTER SEXUAL ABUSE OF THREE CHILDREN
A Middlesbrough "monster" has been caged for over a decade after sexual abuse of three children decades ago.Teesside Crown Court heard how Roy Renicor, 64, initially denied the offences against the victims.
It wasn't until he went on trial that he admitted three counts of indecent assault.
The Middlesbrough court heard how one of the historic sexual offences was recently reported to officers by one of the victims, now an adult.
Two other victims, also now adults, then came forward.
One of the victims was five years old when Renicor's abuse took place.
The victim told the court the defendant was a "monster" and a "cruel, evil and sadistic man".
A victim impact statement read: "The abuse I suffered at the hands of Roy Renicor was unbelievably evil." The victim, who describes themselves as a "survivor", said they were still "deeply affected" by what happened and had suffered from anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.
The statement continued: "I have come to the conclusion that some people are totally evil and Roy Renicor is one of those people.
Any sentence that allows him back into the world is not enough because he's always going to be a danger and I suspect he shows no remorse." Another victim, told Renicor in a statement read to the court: "The badge of shame you gave me was never mine to wear.
I give it back you.
You are a coward Roy Renicor and always have been." The third victim's statement read: "I hope that, as a result of this conviction he can find the help that he needs.
His abuse has had a massive impact on my life.
I am a victim.
I did not choose this.
It was forced upon me." Renicor, of Byelands Street, Middlesbrough, appeared in the courtroom via a link to another court, where he sat with his barrister.
The court heard how he was in poor health and used a walking frame.
David West, defending, said Renicor told him he wanted to plead guilty when the case went to trial as he wanted to "accept responsibility" for what he had done.
He said he was younger when he carried out the offences and there's been no offending since.
He told the court: "He's disgusted in himself and he expressed that to the probation writer.
He cannot explain his behaviour.
He understands exactly where this has put his victims and there's no way he can pay recompense for that.
He understands that no sentence will pay these victims back.
He appreciates that he's going into a very long term of custody." Recorder Bryan Cox told Renicor: "When you were arrested by police you didn't admit criminality." He said he eventually pleaded guilty after the trial had started and one of the victims had given evidence.
Recorder Cox sentenced Renicor to 10-and-a-half years in prison.
