PADIHAM MAN HARASSES EX-PARTNER AND SLASHES HER CAR TYRE
A 41-year-old man from Padiham, Wayne Jeffrey White, who struggled to accept the end of his relationship, harassed his ex-partner Caroline Clarke through persistent phone calls and text messages.
When his attempts were blocked, he escalated his harassment by leaving messages and flowers with her friends and even turned up at her residence demanding information about a new boyfriend.
The court heard that he also slashed a tyre on her car.
White pleaded guilty to charges of harassing Clarke and obstructing a police officer.
As part of his sentence, he was ordered to undergo community supervision for 12 months, fined £50 with an additional £145 in costs, and required to pay £60 in compensation.
Furthermore, a restraining order was imposed against him for two years.
Prosecutor Parveen Akhtar explained that Clarke ended the relationship before Christmas, but White continued to contact her through phone and texts, and after being blocked, he contacted her through friends and damaged her property, showing persistent harassment during this period.
