YORK MAN WITH PREVIOUS HARASSMENT CASE ORDERED TO DO COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR SENDING 40+ MESSAGES TO EX-GIRLFRIEND
A man named Wayne Alan Jackson, aged 29, from Foxwood Lane, Acomb, York, was sentenced for harassment after sending his second ex-girlfriend more than 40 unwanted messages in a single night.
The York Magistrates Court heard that Jackson had previously harassed another former partner, and he pleaded guilty to harassment from January 29 to October 17.
The court sentenced him to a two-year community order—including 150 hours of unpaid work, a rehabilitative relationship course, and 20 days of rehabilitative activities.
Additionally, he was given an indefinite restraining order banning him from approaching his ex-girlfriend and going into her street.
Jackson had claimed he sent the messages after being told by someone that his ex was at his address with a child, assuming she wanted to resuming contact, even though she had previously told him not to contact her and wanted no further interaction.
The court's district judge Adrian Lower criticized Jackson, saying, 'You have not yet learnt your lesson thoroughly.
At the age of 29, it is time you grew up and learnt life isn’t always kind.' The prosecution, represented by Ms.
Katherine Schofield, highlighted one message where Jackson said, 'you owe me a baby.' Jackson also has a previous restraining order related to his first ex-girlfriend.
