WAYNE BOONYARACVEJ'S HORRIFIC BREAK-IN IN GRIMSBY LEADS TO LIFE SENTENCE

In a chilling incident that has shocked the community of Grimsby, a nine-year-old girl was subjected to a terrifying invasion of her privacy in the early hours of June 25. The young girl, who was peacefully sleeping in her bedroom, was abruptly awakened to the horrifying sight of a naked man lying atop her bedsheets, engaging in an assault. The perpetrator, later identified as Wayne Boonyaracvej, a 27-year-old resident of Harold Street in Grimsby, had managed to infiltrate her home by climbing through an open window.

According to court proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court, the girl was initially unsure of what she was witnessing. She thought perhaps her mother was in the room, but upon opening her eyes fully, she saw Boonyaracvej completely naked on her bed, with only a pink sunhat covering part of his head. The young victim recalled pinching herself in disbelief and screaming for help as she desperately tried to kick him off. In response, Boonyaracvej jumped off her bed, ran to a nearby cabinet, and then escaped through the window.

After the assault, the girl ran to her mother’s bedroom, visibly distressed. Meanwhile, Boonyaracvej’s attempt to flee was marred by a fall through a neighbor’s greenhouse, which resulted in cuts and bloodstains at the scene. Forensic evidence, including fingerprints and DNA matching Boonyaracvej’s, was recovered from her bedsheets, linking him directly to the crime.

Later that day, police executed a raid on Boonyaracvej’s residence. However, he managed to evade capture by escaping through the loft cavity of his home. During the search, officers discovered several items of clothing belonging to women and children, which Boonyaracvej admitted he liked to wear when at home. Additionally, they found a pink baseball cap with bloodstains on it. When questioned about his presence in the girl’s bedroom, Boonyaracvej claimed he “didn’t really want to think about it,” and stated that he was intoxicated, having consumed cannabis, magic mushrooms, and alcohol at the time.

It was also revealed that Boonyaracvej had a prior conviction and a caution for indecent exposure, raising concerns about his history of inappropriate behavior. The court heard these details as part of the sentencing process.

Judge David Tremberg described the case as “deeply disturbing,” emphasizing the trauma inflicted on the young girl. He condemned Boonyaracvej’s actions, noting that he left the victim terrified and hysterical. The judge highlighted Boonyaracvej’s paedophilic urges and his predatory conduct while intoxicated.

In light of the evidence and the gravity of the offense, Judge Tremberg sentenced Boonyaracvej to an indeterminate prison term with a minimum of two years. The judge made it clear that there was no certainty when or if Boonyaracvej would be deemed safe for release, stating, “I cannot say when or if you will become safe to be released into the community. You might never be released.”

Furthermore, Boonyaracvej will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and has been permanently barred from working with children, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community of Grimsby.
