GRIMSBY MAN JAILED AFTER SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH YOUNG TEEN GIRLS

A man with "a persistent sexual interest in children" messaged young girls on a fake Instagram account and engaged in sexual activity with them, a court heard.

Jordan Moody, 24, of Hainton Avenue, Grimsby, had previously been convicted of making indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornographic material.

He was subject to an eight-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order limiting his internet activity.

However, he breached it by obtaining an unregistered computer.

At Grimsby Crown Court, Moody admitted two separate offences of sexual activity with girls aged under 16 and an offence of sexual communication with an underage girl.

Prosecuting, Joel Wootton said Moody began communication with a girl on Instagram when she was 12 years old.

He asked to meet up with her but she refused and regularly blocked his messages.

He later asked her for photographs of her.

The contact continued for some time and she eventually went to his home where he got on top of her and engaged in sexual activity.

The girl told a relative about what had happened.

Moody was arrested and bailed by police who had taken his phone for forensic examination.

Mr Wootton said Moody later began communicating with another girl aged 15, telling her he was 17 years old and working in the music industry.

He claimed he was heading to work in Australia.

He sent her indecent images of himself.

When the girl's mother discovered the images on her daughter's phone she alerted police and Moody was arrested again.

Police seized his phone but he refused to give them his personal identification number to unlock his phone, which put him in breach of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order that had previously been issued.

Police also found he had an unregistered computer, which was another offence under the Order.

Mr Wootton read the victim impact statements from the girls in which they told of the harm the offences had caused them and how it affects them every day and had changed them.

For Moody, Michele Stuart-Lofthouse said her client had suffered a broken jaw in prison after an attack by a fellow inmate.

She submitted a psychological report, highlighting his difficulties with autism and emotional immaturity.

"He has had a step forward while he has been in custody and has been given the opportunity to rehabilitate.

He has the support of his family," she said.

She added he had admitted the offences at the earliest opportunity.

She said he had been living alone in privately-rented accommodation and had become "incredibly isolated." The defence barrister said he was remorseful and now had stability in his life.

Judge Richard Woolfall said the girls were children and "deserved to be protected".

He told Moody: "You have a persistent sexual interest in children.

It is an entrenched pattern of behaviour." He said the defendant posed a significant risk of causing harm and classed him as dangerous, after having breached the previous Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He jailed Moody for four years and eight months and extended the licence period for a further five years, due to the danger he posed.

He imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 15 years which will restrict and monitor his internet searches and ban him from coming into contact with girls under the age of 16 years.

A Restraining Order bars him from contact, either directly or indirectly, with the victims and bans him from a specified street in Grimsby.
