VICTORIA LOUISE CHAMBERLAIN CONVICTED IN FEATHERSTONE FOR CRUELTY TO DOG SASKA
Victoria Louise Chamberlain, born on June 9, 1999, who also uses the surname Robinson, was convicted in 2019 and is a former resident of Castleford, currently residing on Post Office Road in Featherstone, Pontefract WF7 5ER. She was found guilty of failing to intervene in the repeated abuse of her dog, Sasha, by her former partner, Joe Bucktrout, and of neglecting to seek veterinary care for the dog's serious injuries.Chamberlain is the ex-partner of Joe Bucktrout, who received a jail sentence in November 2019 for multiple assaults on Sasha. The dog sustained injuries including dislocated hips, fractured ribs, and cigarette burns.
Sasha endured numerous injuries over several months during Bucktrout's attacks, with Chamberlain present but not intervening. The RSPCA investigated and determined that no treatment was sought for her injuries. Investigators discovered the extent of Sasha’s suffering after reviewing recordings taken over four days, during which Bucktrout is heard shouting at Sasha, accompanied by loud bangs and whimpering from the dog.
The recordings also captured instances of Sasha being kicked, beaten, and burned with cigarettes in a brutal campaign of abuse that left her with severe and painful injuries.
Victoria-Louise Chamberlain's voice can also be heard in these recordings. She was convicted in her absence on two charges: failing to provide veterinary treatment and causing unnecessary suffering by not protecting Sasha from her abusive boyfriend.
As part of her sentence, Chamberlain received a 10-week prison term, suspended for 12 months, and a lifelong ban from owning or caring for animals. She has the option to appeal this ban after five years.
During the investigation, Sasha was handed over to the RSPCA, and she has since been successfully rehomed. She has recovered well from her ordeal and is described as a sweet-natured dog who remains affectionate.
RSPCA Inspector Vanessa Reid commented, “I’m so happy for her. She’s such a wonderful, loving dog who just craves affection despite all that has happened to her.”
