MAN JAILED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER AND COMMITTING FRAUD
A 50-year-old man named Victor Cox, also known as Gary, from Hawton Lane, Newark, has been sentenced to jail for failing to comply with the requirements of registering as a sex offender, along with other offenses.
Cox admitted to his crimes and changed his plea to guilty on the day he was due to stand trial at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
He was jailed for 30 weeks in total: 16 weeks for failing to supply his residence details, which will run consecutively to a 14-week sentence for fraud involving false references and supporting documentation used to secure paid employment.
Additionally, Cox received a concurrent 16-week sentence for failing to notify changes in his bank details.
The court also noted that Cox used the victim’s details, breaching a restraining order, and he earned £6,795 from employment before being caught.
The court found that Cox breached his registration obligations over a significant period of time.
