VICTOR BLAKEY FROM MIDDLESBROUGH AND SLEIGHTS SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Middlesbrough and Sleights, a man named Victor Blakey has been convicted and sentenced for subjecting a young girl to prolonged and heinous sexual abuse. The incident, which spanned several months, came to light during a court hearing at Teesside Crown Court in June 2022, where Blakey faced the consequences of his actions.

According to the victim, a schoolgirl, the abuse began with inappropriate gestures and escalated to more invasive acts. She recounted to the court that Blakey started by kissing her neck and lips, and despite her efforts to resist and escape, he persisted. She described how he repeatedly asked for hugs, which she refused, and how he would plead, saying, “please, please,” before touching her breasts. The girl also revealed that Blakey attempted to get under her clothing to touch her inappropriately, causing her significant distress.

Prosecutor Shaun Dodds detailed further disturbing behavior by Blakey, including an attempt to conceal evidence of his misconduct. It was revealed that Blakey spilled a Pot Noodle near the girl to hide the traces of his sexual activity. Additionally, he warned her not to disclose the abuse to her family, exerting psychological pressure to keep her silent.

The court heard that the girl was initially too frightened to tell her mother about what had happened. However, once she confided in her, Blakey was arrested the very next day. In her statement, the girl expressed her feelings of fear and relief, saying, “I was both terrified and relieved when the police officer turned up to help. When the abuse happened, I felt like no one was going to help me. I felt frozen and scared to move.”

Her mother, devastated by her daughter’s disclosure, shared her heartbreak and guilt. She explained, “I suffer from nightmares. I close my eyes and see my little girl’s face when coming out of the police interview. She was crying. I will always blame myself for not seeing the signs.”

Victor Blakey, who was formerly residing in Middlesbrough but has since moved to Sleights near Whitby, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault against a child during a hearing in April. His guilty plea marked a significant step in the legal process, bringing justice closer for the young victim.

Judge Timothy Stead sentenced Blakey to four years in prison. Furthermore, he imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which requires Blakey to adhere to strict notification protocols with police authorities. This order aims to prevent any future harm and ensure ongoing monitoring of his activities, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for community safety.
