NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT BY REPAIR MAN
A man sexually assaulted a woman when he was working for a contracting firm doing repairs for a housing association in Nottinghamshire.
Vasile Diaconu was convicted of sexually assaulting the householder when she was alone.
Diaconu, aged 52, from Hurstmead Court, Edgware, north London, was sentenced on Tuesday (April 4) to a two-year community order, 25 rehabilitation activity days, and 200 hours of unpaid work.
He will be on the sex offenders' register for five years and may be disqualified by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Diaconu, who was described as of previous good character, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court.
Judge Steven Coupland stated: "The probation service concluded this is out of character for you and you are at low risk of reoffending.
You have shown remorse for this and I bear that in mind.
However, it is concerning that you still don't accept, even now, that you did anything wrong.
That being said, since this incident, you have changed your employment and where you live - which indicates an understanding of what went wrong and effectively removes the risk of you repeating the same behavior."
