HALIFAX MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN CALDERDALE
A total of 20 men have been sentenced to more than 200 years collectively in prison following an inquiry into historical child sexual abuse cases in Calderdale.
These individuals have been given a combined sentence of 219 years after being convicted of abusing and raping young girls.
The convictions resulted from several separate investigations and court trials, which confirmed that the men had sexually exploited four girls aged between 12 and 16 in Calderdale.
Court-imposed restrictions were put in place to ensure the fairness of the proceedings, though these measures have now been removed.
One of those convicted, Vaseem Adalat, aged 38 from Halifax, received a 12-year prison sentence after being found guilty of rape.
His case was among multiple trials related to the abuse cases involving girls aged 12 to 16.
The investigation was extensive, spanning years and leading to several sentencing decisions, including one sentence being increased on appeal.
