PROLIFIC SEX OFFENDER MOVED 80 MILES FOR 'FRESH START' BEFORE JAILING
A prolific sex offender who moved over 80 miles to Halifax for a "fresh start" has been jailed. In February West Yorkshire Police were informed that an account linked to Ryan Coullie had been involved in sexualised chats online and he had also been engaging in sexual communications on the Kik messaging app with a user in South Africa.
Bradford Crown Court heard on Friday that officers arrested Coullie at an address in Elland later that month and his mobile phone was seized and downloaded.
Officers found 27 indecent images of children on the phone and the court heard that back in October 2020 Coullie had been sentenced to a community order for possessing indecent images of children and attempting to sexually communicate with a child.
As part of that sentence Coullie, now 37, had to register as a sex offender with the police for five years and comply with the terms of a sexual harm prevention order for the same period of time.
Those protective orders expired in October last year and just two months later Coullie was again downloading indecent images of children as young as three.
Coullie, of no fixed abode, admitted three offences relating to his possession of the 27 indecent images and he was jailed for 16 months.
The judge said his remarks were a “warning shot” for Coullie who would face much longer prison sentences if he committed further offences in the future.
