RAPIST MICHAEL SILCOCK IS JAILED FOR 11 YEARS AFTER TRIAL
A judge commended a woman for her resilience and bravery in seeking justice against a rapist.
Michael Silcock has been sentenced to 11 years for committing a rape and two counts of sexual assault against his victim.
During the court hearing at Bradford Crown Court, it was revealed that Silcock assaulted the woman in the early morning hours while she was intoxicated, fluctuating in and out of consciousness and unable to defend herself.
Prosecutor Michael Morley read a statement on the victim’s behalf, in which she described feeling frightened, anxious, and paranoid, experiencing sudden flashbacks that made her feel unable to breathe.
Silcock, aged 56, of Bull Close Lane in Halifax, was found guilty by a jury after a trial.
The court was informed of his extensive criminal history, which includes 40 convictions encompassing 91 crimes such as wounding, assault, and dishonesty, with records dating back to 1983.
The judge, Nadim, sentenced Silcock to 11 years in prison and stated he would serve at least two-thirds before being eligible for parole.
