BURNLEY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BREACHING COURT ORDER OVER FAKE FACEBOOK PROFILE
A man named Tyler Deterville, aged 21 and residing on Colne Road in Burnley, has pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order. The magistrates heard that Deterville had violated the order because he believed his former partner was responsible for a fake Facebook profile that revealed his past convictions and details of his requirement to be on the Sex Offender Register.
The article states that Deterville had been involved in a relationship that ended in June, and his ex-partner obtained the non-molestation order in September due to issues with him.
Subsequently, at the end of October, she recognized his voice during a call from a withheld number and was so distressed that she experienced panic and anxiety attacks.
A voicemail was also left on her phone referencing the fake Facebook profile.
The profile included personal information about Deterville, such as his previous commitment to being sectioned and his status on the sex offender register.
During the hearing, Laura Heywood, defending, explained that Deterville had left a message pleading with his ex-partner to delete the profile and stop tormenting him, asserting that he did not threaten her but simply asked her to cease posting about him.
Deterville was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
