A Lowestoft man who beat his wife and left her needing surgery on a fractured ankle has been jailed for 30 months.
Tony King's attack on his partner Tracy King in January was the latest in a series of assaults, including one on their honeymoon, Ipswich Crown Court heard on Tuesday.
Judge John Holt said that part of the attack was witnessed by a schoolboy who saw Mrs King lying unconscious with her face covered in blood and raised the alarm.
"She was black and blue," said the judge.
Mrs King's blood was later found on King's trainers and clothing.
The judge said King, 25, had carried out previous assaults on Tracy King in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
On the last occasion, he had been given a suspended sentence and had breached this by committing the latest assault.
King, of Marsh Lane, Lowestoft, admitted assaulting Tracy King causing actual bodily harm and was jailed for two years with six months to run consecutively for the breach of the suspended sentence.
Kate Stephenson, prosecuting, said the relationship between King and his wife had a lengthy history of domestic violence.
Jamie Sawyer, for King, said his behaviour on January 24 had been fuelled by alcohol.
