MAN JAILED FOR HORRIFYING DOMESTIC ABUSE ATTACKS
A man named Tomasz Gul has been sentenced to 13 months in jail following a horrifying attack on his former partner.Gul will also serve six months under supervised release after incidents in Montrose, where he grabbed the woman by the throat and pinned her to the ground.
The 37-year-old Polish national, who has resided in Scotland for around ten years, appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar having previously admitted to domestic abuse-related charges against his partner spanning from June to August 2013.
He also pleaded guilty to threatening a man at a house in Ferry Street, Montrose, in November 2014, and to making threats against his partner on the same day.
Currently in custody serving two other prison terms, Gul's defence solicitor highlighted his strong work ethic and his length of stay in Scotland.
The court was informed that Gul's offences are historical, occurring during a turbulent period marked by his alcohol use.
Sheriff Murray described the incident in 2013 as "terrifying" for the victim and noted that even the lesser charges would have been terrifying when considered alongside the prior domestic abuse.
