MONTROSE MECHANIC GUILTY OF POSSESSING CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS IN TRIPLE-LOCKED APP
A mechanic from Montrose, named James Kennedy-Pratt, aged 26, was convicted for possessing child abuse and extreme pornography videos in a triple-locked phone app.The videos included very serious categories of abuse, spanning from class A (the worst) to B and C, with content depicting children as young as four years old and also featuring disturbing acts involving animals.
He claimed he had downloaded the files accidentally and only transferred them to a secure app without viewing their content.
Despite this, evidence from police confirmed that files had to be manually added, suggesting he was aware of their illegal nature.
Kennedy-Pratt denied knowingly possessing or downloading the illegal content.
The court found him guilty of three charges, with a fourth charge of distribution being withdrawn, and he was warned that prison was a possible outcome.
He was bailed and placed on the sex offenders register pending sentencing, which will consider prison as a strong possibility.
Update 25/09/2025 Sheriff Keith O’Mahoney jailed Kennedy-Pratt for two years and placed him on the sex offenders register for a decade.
