WISBECH MAN IN COURT OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A WOMAN
A man accused of sexually penetrating a woman with the handle of a kitchen knife has made an appearance in court.
Thomas Wenman, from Ash Land, Willow Park, Wisbech, attended Cambridge Magistrates' Court at 10 a.m.
on July 17 for his initial hearing.
The 57-year-old faces charges including assaulting a woman aged 16 or older by penetration with a body part or object—in this case, the handle of a kitchen knife.
Additionally, he is charged with threatening someone with an offensive weapon in a private setting, kidnapping, causing actual bodily harm through assault, intentional strangulation, and sexual assault.
During the hearing, Wenman did not enter any pleas.
The case was adjourned for a trial and further preparation at Cambridge Crown Court on August 14.
He was released on conditional bail, which prohibits him from directly or indirectly contacting the victim.
