MAN JAILED AFTER SIX-HOUR ATTACK ON PARTNER
A man responsible for inflicting a severe, six-hour assault on his partner has been sentenced to over six years in prison.Daniel Holyoak, aged 39, assaulted the victim with multiple punches, stomped on her body, pulled her by the hair, and repeatedly slammed a door into her after returning from a ten-day period of substance abuse involving cocaine and alcohol.
The assault resulted in extensive bruising, the loss of a front tooth, a swollen eye, and shoe marks across her body.
The police were called on July 12, 2021, when the victim sought help at an ambulance station.
Holyoak was detained the next day at his home on Ramnoth Road, Wisbech, which was also the scene of the assault.
While in custody, Holyoak attempted to contact the victim multiple times in an effort to persuade her to withdraw the charges.
At Cambridge Crown Court on April 20, Holyoak admitted to charges of causing grievous bodily harm and attempting to pervert the course of justice, resulting in a sentence of six years and two months.
DC Tom Adams commented: “Putting the victim through such a terrifying and violent ordeal was completely inexcusable and I am pleased Holyoak has been brought to justice.
"We will continue to work tirelessly to protect victims of domestic abuse and take action against offenders.”
